Goldfrapp - Alive (From The Head First LP)

(Mute - May 2010)
Additional Production By Richard X

Second single taken from the Frapp's marvellous new album "Head First"

In response to the two usual Frapp FAQ's from viewers...

A) What is Additional Production? In some instances it can mean as much as making the whole record but under the main producer, or the bands, overall control. In other instances it could mean as little as us phoning up and telling someone to turn the snare drum up a bit. With Alive, Alison and Will had written pretty much the whole song and demo'ed it, so it was existing in a familiar state to how it would end up. It was a case of giving it a synth injection, a little speed boost, fiddling with it's chorus oomph factor and middle 8. There might have been more, there might have been less. We can't remember now.

B) I thought Alison wanted to kill you yes/no?

For those that know/are bothered about the Rachel/Strict machine thing.... There was lots of Shaffel'ing in the early noughties everywhere, but Some Girls was more inspired by the Sheffield bunch than anything else at the time. Some Girls, sounding as it does but sans-Rachel Stevens, was written and delivered in October 2003 and later/coincidentally Mute asked for the Strict Machine remix in Feb 2004. So not quite what people think, but hey, who cares? You? Really ? Maybe you should get out more. Maybe we all should.

C) Was there anything else recorded?

There was some additional production on an early version of Rocket but that's not on the finished version. We hope we'll get together in the future for more synth fun.
